Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra Review: Large Camera Sensor

Xiaomi 12S Ultra Full Review

I have been using the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra for a while now, and I feel like I know it very well. The camera on this phone really stood out to me compared to the one on my old phone. In my in-depth review, I put the Mi 12S Ultra through its paces. Then let’s get to the review!

Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra Display:

The display on the 12S Ultra is dull. Since the screen is the same as on the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro and 12S Pro, we won’t say much more about it. Xiaomi says this is the best screen they’ve ever made. Really? Disagree. The E4 on the 11 Ultra doesn’t have the problem where the colors change. Second, DC dimming: The Anti-flicker feature on the 12S Ultra is less strong than on the 11 Ultra.

Xiaomi put this setting in the Developer menu instead of the Display menu for a good reason. The high brightness and LTPO of the E5 screen didn’t impress me. Both phones’ screens are hard to see in bright sunlight. After six months, everyone knows that LTPO doesn’t lower the amount of power used. I think Xiaomi’s best screen is on the Mi 11 line.

The best thing about the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra is its camera. The camera on the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra isn’t much better than the camera on the 11S. The sensors on the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras haven’t changed, but the Sony IMX989 sensor and 8P lens on the main camera are improvements.

LEICA Vibrant and LEICA Authentic are 12S Ultra color options. Xiaomi’s LEICA Colorful mode mixes colors like Leica. LEICA Authentic restores Leica’s original color science. In AI-free LEICA Vibrant mode, we used the new 1-inch lens.

Daytime samples are 11 Ultra. Realistic colors have greater contrast and less brightness. This improves white balance. Edge, center, and bokeh image quality are the same. Leica and capacitive gadgets aren’t superior in daylight. 12S Ultra minimizes flare. Changed pictures. Nighttime improves dynamic range. Our test didn’t uncover any weird light photographs. HDR isn’t always better.

The ultra-wide and telephoto lenses on the 11 Ultra use the same color tech as the main camera.

The 12S watermark from Leica makes pictures look better. You can’t use night mode, HEIF, RAW, or albums. Visitors who want to stay anonymous should turn off geolocation. We used Xiaomi phones to try out the Leica watermark. Xiaomi got rid of this APK, so buyers no longer have to look for Leica Watermark solutions.

Leica video modes and filters aren’t discussed. It features three 8K lenses and Dolby Vision. and 11 Ultra-style recordings. The 12S Ultra rear camera didn’t support Dolby Vision in the SDR sample. The front-facing camera lacks 4K and 60 fps, making it poorer than the 12S.

Performance & Gaming:

Lei Jun may have agreed with the firm that the Qualcomm 8 Gen 1 wasn’t good enough, therefore the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra was put on wait for the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra, which features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU. No comparison to 11 Ultra’s Snapdragon 888. Dimensity 9000 will be examined. 8+ Gen 1 employs the same TSMC 4nm technology as Dimensity 9000, hence speed has increased after Samsung exited the market.

In Geekbench 5, the CPU performance of the K50 Pro and 12S Ultra are the same. In 3DMark, the 12S Ultra scored higher than the K50 Pro. The CPU Throttling Test that ran for 20 minutes showed that the cooling system worked well.

Genshin’s influence on 12S Ultra Examines the K50 Pro. The K50 Pro functioned after the update. The second-half framerate fell. 12S Ultra was successful. Even below 60 fps, the gameplay isn’t much different. Like the K50 before it, this Android is among the top two in one family. We’ve waited a year for a camera-and-games phone.

They utilized vinyl. The genuine phone is lighter than in the official photo. 11 Ultra is lighter. The camera module is rounder and protrudes less than previously. I can understand why Xiaomi used imitation leather on the 12S Ultra. This new leather alternative is rubbery. I suggest putting it in a case even though it’s more durable than the prior grained leather. Metal and stone are superior to suede. It has NFC and Nano SIMs. USB 3.0, IR emitter, and IP68 waterproofing are absent. USB 2.0 phones cost $900. I need Xiaomi USB 3.0.

Battery & Charging:

Xiaomi said last year that the Mi 11 series won’t come with chargers because it’s bad for the environment. Chargers were added to versions a year later. This 67W charger is smaller than its predecessor and works with older methods of charging. The 12S Ultra can only charge wirelessly at 50w because of policy.

Xiaomi may have moved the wireless charging coil on the Mi 10 Ultra, making it incompatible with older charging stations. The 30w home charger that Xiaomi sells can’t charge my 12S Ultra. At 67w, nothing has changed. Less power in the batteries We’re happy with how long the battery on the new Snapdragon lasts.

I used 5G outside for eight hours, which used up 12% of the battery. Maybe taking pictures takes too much energy, which would explain why they don’t turn out well. No, you shouldn’t sell your Mi 11 Ultra to get a better battery or a faster-charging speed.

I’m sorry that my review of the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra took so long to write. This phone will be mine for a long time. The camera on the Mi 11 Ultra sold me, but the camera on the 12S Ultra is better, so I may switch. People who don’t play games or want Leica color science can keep their Mi 11 Ultras.

Unlike other flagships, the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra is great in every way. If you don’t care about money, it’s still a great choice. Here is where you can ask questions about the 12S Ultra.
