You didn’t think you saw the end of the Redmi Note 10 series, did you? Here’s a new model – the Redmi Note 10 JE, which means “Japan Edition”. The phone will be sold through Xiaomi’s first Snapdragon 480 chipset and Carrier AU.
The Note 10 series uses an assortment of chipsets – Snapdragon (700 and 600 series), Dimension chips (1100 and 700), also Helio G95. It sits lower in the food chain than the typical chipset used in the Snapdragon 480 series, but it does have 5G and generic price tags, which seems to be the point.
The JE model has locally relevant features such as support for FeliCa / Osaifu-Keitai, a popular mobile payment system in Japan. It is the first of the series for accurate dust and water resistance with an IP68 rating.
It is a single SIM phone with relevant 5G band and VoLTE support. There is a MicroSD slot for expanding 64GB onboard storage, 4GB RAM capacity. The phone runs Android 11 based MIUI 12.5.
Redmi Note 10 JE Camera:
In contrast, the JE is a fairly ideal model if it has something like a typical Redmi Note 10. Video recording is limited to 1080p / 30 fps, as in the case of the 8MP selfie camera and the rear is a 48+2+2 MP triple camera setup.
Charging a 4,800mAh battery is slow with only 18W support (some Vibon models do 33W). In addition to the USB-C port, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack that comes with HI-Res audio certification. Finally, there is an infrared blaster above on the top.
If you are in the market for an affordable 5G phone in Japan, the Redmi Note 10 JE will be available on August 13th.
